Motorcycling Australia (MA) has revealed the appointment of Peter Doyle as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the country’s governing body of motorcycle sport.

Doyle has been the acting CEO of MA since April this year and brings a further 40 years of experience to the position after taking on multiple roles in the industry throughout his career.

The newly-appointed CEO commented on the positive developments that have been made in recent months, however stated that further progress is still to accomplished.

“There have been a lot of changes to the board, staff and our relationship with the state bodies, all of which were long overdue,” Doyle explained. “Motorcycling in this country has some way to go before we reach the levels of professionalism that other sports enjoy, but I am confident that we are on the path now to achieve that goal.

“I would like to thank the industry for their support in this decision and for their patience in recent months. The great thing is that we are all extremely passionate, so we are all striving for the same goal – to promote the sport we love.”

Acting MA president Peter Goddard spoke on behalf of the board, stating their pleasure in appointing Doyle as the head of the organisation.

“Mr Doyle’s experience across the sport and industry are second to none and we are all very fortunate to have him on the handlebars of Motorcycling Australia to guide our passion, sport and its controlling bodies into a new era,” said Goddard.
