KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Jesse Dobson will sit out Coolum’s 10th round of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals following a heavy crash at last weekend’s round nine in Toowoomba, Queensland.

Dobson suffered a concussion in the closing stages of moto one, forcing him to be assisted off the circuit by the Racesafe Medical crew.

“I was hitting a fast section of the track, and whatever it was, the front end tucked at the bottom of the single and it was lights out.” Dobson told MotoOnline.com.au.

“I suffered a concussion and I was out pretty bad – I’ve had a few concussions before, but nothing like that.” He added.

His absence this weekend marks the second year running that he will sit on his sidelines at his home race on the calendar, as a knee injury in 2015 forced forced him to miss the final round on the Sunshine Coast.

“It definitely stings a little to miss this round, I’ve been practicing here all year, so it’s where I would be closest to the guys out in front.”

The KTM-mounted rider’s season has been riddled with injuries, seeing him miss multiple rounds throughout the year. Dobson recorded his best results of the year at the Wanneroo and Shepparton rounds where he was credited fifth overall.

“This has been the toughest year I’ve been through in a long time, but I’m not giving up yet.” He stated.

Dobson is expecting to be ready for round one of the Australian Supercross Championship due to take place at Jimboomba in Queensland on Saturday, 17 September.
