Review: 2017 Troy Lee Designs SE gear set

MotoOnline.com.au puts the latest TLD racewear to the test.

Words: Guy Streeter.

Troy Lee Designs’ SE gear range is TLD’s premium gear and has been developed and perfected over many years. The focus Troy Lee Designs puts into the SE range is performance, function and durability and of course several rad designs and colorways which you expect from TLD. The jersey/pant combo hosts an array of both perforated and heavy grade polyester, stretch material and top grade leather, creating a great line of gear to suit any displine of riding whether it be motocross, supercross, adventure or enduro.

The SE jersey features a ventilated polyester mesh back and ventilated polyester mesh sleeves made from breathable stretch polyester materials allowing the jersey to breathe and keep sweat to a minimum. Sewn-in elbow padding adds extra protection, four-way stretch collar and cuffs increase comfort, and gel print on the tail keeps your jersey in place so you don’t look like Jason Anderson after lap one.

The SE pants features a new articulated fit for performance and comfort, a durable ratchet closure system around the waist keeping your pants secure, 900 denier polyester for long lasting strength, cowhide leather panels on inner knee areas providing added protection, w-way stretch panels at rear knee, calf and crotch areas allowing plenty of room for knee braces or pads and a sliding rear yoke stretch system to keep the pant in place.

As always with all Troy Lee Designs helmets and gear, the one thing that does set them further apart, is the graphics and colorways. The SE Gravity jersey and pant combo MotoOnline.com.au were sent featured bright yellow with a mountain scene front and back. Once you get past the detail of the graphic you will notice the quality in the product and clearly can see it is high end quality.

The Jersey fit was great as you would expect, shelling out $94.95 for this great looking bit of gear, the sleeves are not too tight and don’t feel restrictive around the cuffs either. The jersey allowed for plenty of air flow keeping the sweat to a minimum and felt light to wear.

The pants fit and feel great on, stretching in all the right places and have plenty of room for either knee braces or knee pads. The SE gear in recent years has used velcro side straps which I am not a huge fan of in general and now the SE gear features a ratchet system at the front giving plenty of room to ‘fill out’ depending on weight fluctuation and in general gives you a more secure and precise fit.

The 2017 Troy Lee Designs gear has hit the shelves and the pant and jersey combo can be picked up for $94.95 for the jersey and $289.85 for the pant. The TLD SE gear comes in a huge selection of colorways and designs so make sure you check out www.lustyindustries.com for the full range.
