Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki’s Waters and Wilson ready for Round 9

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki press release:

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki’s Todd Waters and Luke Wilson are hoping to capitalise on an event close to home, with Round 9 of the Motul MX Nationals set to take place at Toowoomba in Queensland this Sunday August 21.

The Suzuki backed team which is based on the Gold Coast will be treated to reduced travel time for the ninth instalment of the Motul MX Nationals, and with Waters in contention for a Thor MX1 championship, and Wilson eyeing another top ten finish, the pair have plenty of motivation this weekend.

Waters, who currently sits in third overall in the Thor MX1 Championship standings with two rounds remaining will be aiming for maximum points at Toowoomba this Sunday, but says at the moment his main focus is on riding well.

“Maximum points this weekend is obviously important, but at the moment I’m just focussing on myself and performing the best that I can every weekend,” Waters shared.

“At this point in the series, everyone is focussing on the championship, but my goal is to not be too result based, and just put in the best rides that I can – where that lands us, is where we’ll end up.

“In saying that, this is the time to step up, and this weekend is about putting myself in the best position possible.

“I’ve raced at Toowoomba since I was a kid, and I like racing there, but Dean (Ferris) and Kirk (Gibbs) also like it too. The three of us are going to ride these last two tracks well, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

For Wilson, Toowoomba will provide yet another opportunity to showcase his recent hard work, and says that he’s planning to finish off the season on a high, starting with round nine this Sunday.

“I’m looking forward to this weekend, we had a bit of track time at Echo Valley the other week for a Suzuki launch which was really good,” Wilson shared.

“Toowoomba would have to be one of my favourite tracks of the whole series, the dirt, the hills, the whole track, it’s just a lot of fun and I can’t wait to get back out there.

“I have a friend of mine Luke Kilborn racing in the Amateur Cup this weekend, so it will be cool to have him there. We do a lot of riding together and have raced together for our whole lives so it will feel a bit more like home.

“Hopefully myself and the team can snatch up another top ten result at Toowoomba, and then finish the 2016 season at Coolum on a high.”
