Home round of the MX Nationals for Victorian-based Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team

Team Honda Racing press release:

Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team Duo Jay Wilson and Dylan Long are gearing up to head to the final Victorian round for the 2016 Australian Motocross season, with Round 8 of the Motul MX Nationals set to take place at Shepparton this Sunday July 31.

After both riders continued to progress at Conondale, putting consistent results on the board, both Long and Wilson are confident ahead of this weekend, and with little travel time for Round 8, are eager to take advantage of the home round.

Long, who lives less than an hour from Shepparton in Benalla, shared that he’s looking forward to the rare opportunity to stay at home, and that he’ll have additional support from family and friends this Sunday.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend, I hardly ever get the opportunity to have a home round, so it means I’ll be able to stay at home, and then head out to the track on Sunday nice and rested and relaxed,” Long shared.

“My parents will be there on Sunday, as well as plenty of other family and friends which will be pretty cool for me. Fingers crossed I can get some more positive results with all of those guys watching on.

“My thumb which I injured at Nowra is improving, and after getting in to a couple of Superpoles and finishing with some top fives the last couple of rounds, I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do at my home track.

“I’ve been a bit sick since the last round so hopefully I can put that all behind me and have a good weekend at Shepparton.”

Wilson, who despite being from Queensland, now resides in Victoria, also shared that he’s eager to get to Shepparton aboard his Honda CRF 450R for Round 8, and that he’s had an ideal lead up to this weekend’s racing.

“Since Conondale I’ve had a lot more time on the bike, which is really the first time I’ve been able to get back to my normal program since I had my wrist operation,” Wilson said.

“With this round being in Shepparton and the team being based in Victoria it’s a much more relaxed weekend for us which will be nice – the team works really hard so it will be good to have some reduced travel time.

“I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable on the bike again, and each round we’re making progress, so hopefully we’ll see more of that this weekend.”

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team will now prepare to head to Shepparton in Victoria for round eight of the Motul MX Nationals, being held this Sunday July 31.
