A Queensland Cup featuring Junior Lites and 85/150cc categories has been confirmed for both rounds one and two of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship.

Event promoter Scott Bannan of SB Promotions recently announced the program set to commence at Jimboomba on 17 September and remaining in Queensland for round two at Toowoomba on 14 October.

“As the Junior Queensland Cup is not a championship class, this year we really wanted to give them a bit more for putting on a show,” said Bannan. “We’ll have a big prize money pool for them and we’ve dropped our entries down to $70 per rider.”

“At the end of the year parents have already spent a fortune getting there kids racing, so we’re trying to make it more affordable for them. Some of these riders are racing Jimboomba, then racing the SEQ Junior MX Series the next day, as well as the Australian Junior Championships a week later.

“With the calendar being so packed there’s nowhere to move, so we want the parents and juniors to know we really appreciate the effort. Juniors are so important, without them we have no future – they are as important as the professionals in our sport.”

Prize money will be awarded to the highest point-scorers combined over the two rounds for each class, while additional prize packs will also be presented on the night of the event.

Junior Lites riders will receive $1000 for first place, $750 for second, $500 for third, $300 for fourth and $200 for fifth. 85/150cc prize money will range from $750 for first, $600 for second, $500 for third, $300 for fourth and $200 for fifth.
