Motul Pirelli Sherco Team back in action

Sherco Australia press rlease:

After a tumultuous first half of the 2016 Australian Off-Road Championship season, the Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory Team is ready to tackle the remaining rounds of the AORC head-on. Rounds 7 and 8 of the Championship take place this coming weekend, July 23-24 at Hedley, in southern Victoria.

“It’s been a tough year for us that’s for sure,” explained Sherco Australia’s Stephen Tuff. “The fire in April took all of our bikes, spares, tools, pits, jerry cans, everything. We are a small Team and relatively new so it has been extremely hard to come back from that but we’re ready to go racing and finish the year in a strong fashion.”

The Team’s E2 class rider, Justin Carafa, is now fit and ready to ride after a thumb injury has sidelined him for almost two months. The injury required surgery with a pin inserted and Carafa only got back on the bike last week.

“Justin has an incredible level of base fitness so he’ll be back up to speed very quickly, “said Team coordinator Dave Suter “The Team is in a good place now. We just want to go racing.”

The shining light of the Motul Pirelli Sherco Factory Team in 2016 has been young gun Wil Ruprecht. Sitting just 6-points off the Under-19 Class Championship lead, Ruprecht is hoping for a strong result this weekend.

“Wil is on fire and riding really well,” Suter continued. “He’s come off a very strong result at the Hattah Desert Race and just last weekend he won his class back-to-back at the NSW Off-Road Championship in Cessnock. We have good bikes and great product to work with so we’re confident of finishing the season with a bang. We have a three-hour cross country Saturday and this will suit Justin and Wil who are fit and ready to slog it out.”

Carafa and Ruprecht will both be racing a 450SEF-R on Saturday’s cross country and the enduro sprint round on Sunday. More information on the AORC can be found at www.ma.org.au
