Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Graham Jarvis has captured his fifth Red Bull Romaniacs victory last week in Sibiu, Romania.

Only 17 out of 51 riders made it to the start line on the final day, with Husqvarna-mounted Jarvis leading the field by over 30 minutes.

With a comfortable lead, the 41-year-old rode conservatively in the closing stages, allowing eventual stage winner Wade Young to pass by.

Alfredo Gomez would also overcome Jarvis in the early stages of day four, however he would relinquish the position through a challenging section prior to the service point. Despite losing the position, the Spaniards third place finish secured him second overall ahead of Wade Young.

“It is incredible to get a fifth win,” said Jarvis. “The last couple of years I’ve been a bit unlucky, so I’m just happy to get another win.”

Red Bull Romaniacs runner-up Gomez commented on the difficulty of the event, stating that the Gold-loop was the toughest he had endured over the four days.

“The rain last night was impressive and we did not know what to expect from the track today,” he explained. “The first 30km were fast and fluent riding, but the Gold-loop before the service point was probably the hardest one of the race.”

Kirsten Landman became the first female to complete the event in the Silver category just one year after an unsuccessful attempt in 2015.
