Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki ready to fire up for Motul MX Nationals second half

Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki press release:

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki riders Todd Waters and Luke Wilson are preparing to get started on the second half of the 2016 motocross season with round six of the Motul MX Nationals being held at Nowra in New South Wales this Sunday July 3.

With a successful five week break behind them, both MX1 pilots Waters and Wilson have had solid preparation for the next instalment of this year’s championship, and are looking forward to the gates dropping this weekend at the official MX Nationals Military Round in Nowra.

Waters, who currently sits in second place in the Thor MX1 championship standings shared that although he hasn’t raced at Nowra since he was 14 years old, that he’s keen to get back to racing this Sunday.

“After Wanneroo, I actually picked up a couple of injuries, so I got through Manjimup and then just took a week or so off to rest and let my body heal up. I started riding again a few weeks ago now and I’m fit and healthy and looking forward to round six,” he said.

“I raced at Nowra back when I was 14, and to be honest I don’t really remember it, so it pretty much feels like the first time going there for me.

“I’ve heard it’s quite tight and hard to pass on, so starts are going to be important this weekend, but I’ve been practicing a lot on hard pack smaller tracks ahead of this weekend, and I think it’s going to be some good racing.

“The goal for me at the moment is to not think about the championship too much, and to just get some more race wins under my belt, so hopefully we can get that done at Nowra.”

For Wilson, who broke in to the talent packed top ten, not long before the commencement of the mid-season break, says he’s hoping to carry that momentum in to the second half of the season, starting this weekend at Nowra.

“I can’t wait for Nowra this weekend. The track is a similar layout and style to what I’ve grown up riding on the Gold Coast, so this weekend should be awesome” he said.

“Last year I went out in practice but I had an injury and I wasn’t able to race, so I’m really looking forward to going racing at Nowra.

“Starts are going to be key this weekend as the track is really tight, and I’ve been getting some good starts recently which definitely gives me a bit more confidence.

“I’ve had a really good mid-season break and I’ve put my head down. Once I got that top ten it really gave me the love back that I needed. I haven’t been grinding away working towards nothing, I’ve got a clear goal now, which is to keep the momentum going.”
