TM’s reigning E1 World Champion Eero Remes has claimed both day’s victories at the EnduroGP World Championship round in Grevena, Greece, over the weekend.

Remes won the opening day ahead of enduro rookie Nathan Watson (KTM) and Australia’s multiple world champion Matthew Phillips (Sherco) in what were slick conditions following overnight rain.

Phillips’ result also posted him at the head of the E2 field for Saturday, winning the class convincingly by a 44-second margin, placing him atop the championship.

“It was a good day for me today,” said Phillips. “It was really easy to make mistakes, like a lot of the guys did, but I didn’t have too many problems. I got close to the EnduroGP class win, but Remes was incredibly fast on the final enduro test. I didn’t want to take any risks and maybe eased off a little too much, but to win Enduro 2 is great.”

Sunday once again saw Remes reign at the top of the results sheets, making for a perfect weekend this time ahead of Johnny Aubert (Beta) and Loic Larrieu (Yamaha). Phillips was fifth overall and third in the E2 ranks.

The 2016 EnduroGP World Championship series next moves to the GP of Finland on 11-12 June, with Phillips on top of the points standings overall, four ahead of Remes.
