Maiden round victory and top ten finish for Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki at Murray Bridge

Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki press release:

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki has recorded its most successful round so far this season, with both Thor MX1 pilots Todd Waters and Luke Wilson ticking goals off the list, and leaving round four of the Motul MX Nationals with plenty of reason to celebrate.

With both Waters and Wilson looking to put solid points on the board ahead of round five at Wanneroo, everything came together in South Australia today, with Waters collecting his first MX Nationals round win for 2016, while Wilson broke through to record a top ten MX1 race result.

After making it through to GoPro Superpole where he took fifth, Waters raced to an impressive race victory in moto one for the Thor MX1 class, while Wilson who went down during race one recovered to finish in a hard fought 20th position.

In race two for the Suzuki backed team, Waters once again raced to a podium position, battling with his talented competitors before finishing in third, while Wilson recorded one of the most impressive rides of his career, concluding moto two in tenth position.

At the conclusion of round four, Waters’ consistent 1,3 finishes across two motos awarded him his first Thor MX1 overall round victory for 2016, while Wilson wrapped up round four of the Motul MX Nationals in 14th position.

Todd Waters – MX1 (1st, 3rd) 1st Overall

“It feels awesome to finally get a round win here at Murray Bridge – we were close at Broadford but we got it done here today so I’m stoked,” he said.

“With a win in moto one, I just tried to ride a smart race in the second one – I knew that I just needed to get third to get the overall, so I did what I needed to do.

“All of the boys are riding very well so it’s nice to finally get a round victory under my belt, and now I’m just looking forward to getting in to some deep sand at Wanneroo next weekend.

“I’m not thinking about the championship too much at this point, I know I’m in a good position and we’ve tightened things up, but I’m focussing on just getting some race wins and taking it round by round.”

Luke Wilson – MX1 (20th, 10th) 14th Overall

“I’m so pumped with how things played out today. Moto one didn’t go my way and I had a crash but in race two I got a good start and things just worked out and we ticked a huge goal off the list,” he said.

“I’ve been chasing a top ten not only this year but for a long time, so to reach it is such an amazing feeling.

“With a top ten under my belt I just want to keep the ball rolling and I just can’t wait to get to the next round in WA.”

Neale Wilson – Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki Team Manager

“This really was one of the best rounds since we’ve been in the sport. We ticked off a lot of the goals that we have set as a team today, and all in all we couldn’t be happier,” he said.

“Todd taking the win in moto one, and then doing exactly what he needed to do in moto two to take the round win makes all of the hard work so worth while. It’s a nice way to reward all of our dedicated sponsors who support us in doing what we do.

“For Luke the result in moto two was what we knew he’s been capable of all along. It was in no way handed to him and we couldn’t be more proud to see him crack in to that talent packed top ten.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has believed in our program, and made becoming a factory effort possible in 2016. Without our sponsors and our dedicated supporters, we couldn’t do what we do, so it’s a credit to those who help us and we can’t thank them enough.”

Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki will now begin preparations for round five of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals being held at Wanneroo in Western Australia on May 28 – 29.
