Murray Bridge awaits the Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team

Team Honda Racing press release:

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team are preparing to converge on the red dirt of Murray Bridge, when the fourth instalment of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals kicks off this weekend in South Australia.

For both MX1 pilots Dylan Long and Jay Wilson, round four provides new conditions from the first three rounds, with Murray Bridge set to dish out it’s famous sandy terrain this coming Sunday.

For Long, who achieved a season best fifth place finish in moto two at Broadford, this weekend provides another opportunity to step up his results, and shared that he’s looking forward to the challenge that the sandy conditions will bring.

“I was much happier with my results at round three, and now that we’re heading to some different tracks, I’m excited to see what we can do in the sand,” he said.

“We’ve had a good few weeks of training on the Honda, and we’ve changed our program up a little bit to prepare for the sand, so all in all we’re in a good place.

“It’s going to be a big two weeks with back to back rounds, but we’re improving every time we get on the bike so I’m excited to go racing at Murray Bridge.”

For Wilson, who also achieved improved results at Broadford, the three-week break has provided additional time to train for the sand, and despite nursing a wrist injury, says he is looking forward to putting his CRF450 machine through the paces this Sunday.

“I’ve been carrying a bit of a wrist injury since round one which will require surgery in the break, but in the last three weeks I’ve actually had more fun on the bike than I’ve had all year,” he said.

“There’s something about the change up of terrain, the sand, that just makes things more exciting. It’s a real skill to be a sand rider so in the last three weeks I’ve been working on riding in softer conditions.

“Even though I’ve got this niggling injury I’m still going to be pushing myself all the way up to round five. I’ve got some fun memories of Murray Bridge so hopefully we can add to those this weekend.”

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team will now prepare to head to Murray Bridge in South Australia for round four of the Motul MX Nationals, this Sunday May 22.
