Honda HRC’s Trey Canard will be sidelined for this weekend’s Phoenix Monster Energy AMA Supercross event due to ongoing hand injury complications.

Canard initially injured the hand at Anaheim’s third round of the series after tangling with another rider. The Oklahoma rider attempted to contest Oakland’s round four where the pain was too intense to continue following a 10th place qualifying performance.

Following a mid-week ride Canard admits he does not have the strength necessary to compete at this point in time, opting to wait until he’s at 100 percent for a return.

“It’s disappointing to miss another race, but after riding today it was clear I don’t have the strength I need to compete,” said Canard. “My hand is getting better but it’s still not 100 percent.”

Canard currently sits 12th overall in the 450SX championship standings with 13 rounds of racing remaining on the 2016 schedule.
