Australian contender Luke Clout will make a shock appearance at this weekend’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross round in the Western Regional 250SX ranks at Anaheim 2, due to complete the remainder of the series.

Clout will ride for the MAD Racing/Yoshimura/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki team, confirming he will depart Australia for the US today when contacted by MotoOnline.com.au early this morning.

“Last time I rode supercross was in the series, then I had a few weeks off, but I’ve been training fulltime,” Clout commented. “It’s a last minute deal, but it’s an opportunity that I thought I might as well give it a go. I’ll land Tuesday morning and the ride at the test track on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.”

The move could see Clout convert to American competition fulltime in 2016 if he gains strong results. Serco Yamaha’s rider line-up for this year has yet to be announced; initially expected to feature Clout alongside Wilson Todd.
