Mcleary and Madden take lessons from an action packed AUS-X Open

Raceline Pirelli Suzuki press release:

Raceline Pirellli Suzuki’s Jesse Madden and Brock Mcleary have used round five of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship in Sydney as a learning experience after a challenging weekend of racing.

With round five marking one of the biggest races on this year’s Supercross calendar, both Madden and Mcleary lapped up the rare opportunity to race indoors – putting on a huge performance for thousands of spectators.

Despite arriving at round five with the best intentions to put solid results on the board, both Madden and Mcleary were absent from the main event on Saturday night. Both SX2 riders were unfortunately narrowly eliminated in their heat races, with the final SX2 race format allowing for only 12 riders.

However despite the second day of racing on Sunday not contributing to the overall championship standings, both Madden and Mcleary took the opportunity to take to the track once again, where Madden eventually concluded the day’s racing in an impressive sixth position.

“Saturday night didn’t go too well for me – I did manage to get a fourth in the first heat, but from there I just didn’t quite have the starts and I had to fight from the back every race,” he said.

“It was disappointing not to make the main after all of the hard work we have all put in, but it was a great experience racing indoors and seeing the best guys in the world race.

“Sunday was much better despite racing not contributing towards the championship. I managed to get a Semi Final win and then sixth in the main, so it was a big improvement.

“The Raceline guys put in a lot of work to get the bike prepped and ready and to keep me confortable for the whole weekend, so although the results don’t show on paper this weekend, I’m very appreciative of all the help and support. Now bring on Melbourne!”

“The weekend was tough. Neither days I came out where I wanted to be, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to make the main events,” he said.

“It was due to some bad luck and some mistakes on my behalf, but I’m happy to walk away uninjured for next weekend’s final round in Melbourne.

“I’m focused on winning the SXD championship now, so at the end of the day it was a good experience gaining that SX2 wildcard entry and I had a lot of fun, so onwards and upwards.”

Chris Woods – Raceline Pirelli Suzuki Team Manager

“On paper it definitely doesn’t look like our best weekend racing, but with the new format, and less gates in the tight arena it was still a great achievement for Jesse and a good experience for Brock,” he said.

“There were a lot of lessons that we took from the weekend, and it was a good opportunity for us to do a bit more testing with Brock before we head to Melbourne, so all in all as a team we’re happy.

“We only have one round left now and it’s been a huge year of racing, so we’re very pleased to have both of the boys healthy, and we’ll be putting in a final charge for the SXD championship next weekend.”

The Raceline Pirelli Suzuki Team will now head to Melbourne in Victoria on December 5 for the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship. To stay updated with all team progress, ‘like’ Raceline on Facebook, follow their Instagram via Raceline_motosport or on Twiter via Raceline_
