Yamaha supercross stars set for Sunrise showdown

Yamaha Motor Australia press release:

International supercross superstar and two time AMA Supercross Champion Chad Reed and current Australian Supercross Championship leader, CDR Yamaha’s Dan Reardon, are set to make six live appearances on Friday morning as they work with the Channel Seven Sunrise crew to promote the up- coming Australian Aus-X open, held in Sydney this weekend.

Reed jets in from the US to make his only appearance on Australian soil this year to contest the high profile event while Reardon is the current Australian Supercross Championship leader after four rounds and looking to keep his momentum going at the Sydney event.

The pair also have a friendly rivalry dating back to 2007 when they locked bars at Raymond Terrace during a motocross national as Reardon was trying to establish his name internationally and Reed was the man to beat in world motocross and supercross.

“I look forward to catching up with Chad this weekend,” Reardon beams. “He is a great competitor and a legend of the sport around the world and for him to continue to support Australian events and proudly be an Australian on the international stage is a testament to his character.

“Every kid in Australia who rides a dirt bike wants to be Chad Reed. I even wanted to be like Chad Reed when I was younger, so it’s cool that I get the chance to race with him and spend some time with him off the track so I’m looking forward to catching up with him.”

Reed returns to Australia to compete at the event and catch up with family and friends. The whirlwind trip will see Reed mounted on a Yamaha YZ450F and working with his former team, CDR Yamaha, in the special, one-off appearance.

“It’s great to have Chad back home, even if it is for just one event,” states CDR Yamaha owner, Craig Dack. “I have kept in contact with Chad regularly over the years since he left Australia to further his career and we remain good friends. It’s going to be like old times having him under the truck awning and I’m sure he will roll out the old jokes like its 1999 all over again,” Dack laughs.

To see Reed and Reardon, tune into Channel Seven’s ‘Sunrise’ this Friday at 6am as the pair cut the first laps of the amazing All-Phones Arena layout ahead of this weekend’s double header event.

The Saturday Night event is sold out, while tickets are still available for the Sunday afternoon show.
