American-based Australian Chad Reed has indicated that he’s considering contesting selected races of the 2016 MXGP World Championship season in Europe.

Reed, who was expected to do a supercross-only deal for the US next year, is yet to confirm his direction for 2016 as January’s opening Monster Energy AMA Supercross round at Anaheim quickly draws closer.

Most recently Reed has been training on board a YZ450F and will race Sydney’s AUS-X Open next weekend, however following that his future remains up in the air and plans to reunite with a factory Yamaha team have seemed to stall in recent weeks.

The MXGP twist came earlier today when Reed posted an Instagram post featuring the 2016 world championship calendar, hinting at a grand prix comeback for the first time since his single fulltime season in 2001 when he finished runner-up to Mickael Pichon as a rookie.

Reed’s position for next year has been highly speculated this silly season since his closure of TwoTwo Motorsports midway through the 2015 Pro Motocross series, but if he doesn’t lock down a supercross seat then a part-time MXGP campaign could be on the cards as a full-circle sendoff.
