The 2015 Australian Supercross Championship roars into life at Bathurst, NSW, on Saturday evening, 10 October, as part of the huge weekend of motorsport that is the annual Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercars race at Mount Panorama.

This year’s six-round, four-state national supercross championship chase is all set to break new ground, by boasting an impressive new mix of sponsors, venues, promoters and a $120,000 prize money pool.

Presented by major round sponsors Supercheap Auto and Penrite, Bathurst’s opening instalment of the Australian Supercross Championship has attracted capacity fields in the premier SX1 and SX2 classes.

“Given the full grids in the major 450 and 250cc categories, we will be staging preliminary heat races to determine the riders who go through the finals,” explained event organiser Yarrive Konsky from Full Throttle Sports.

The capacity field features all of Australia’s top supercross stars, including reigning SX1 champion Matt Moss (Team Motul Suzuki), current national SX1 number two Adam Monea (NPS Monster Energu Kawasaki), newly-crowned national motocross champion Kirk Gibbs (KTM Motocross Racing Team) and Dan Reardon (CDR Yamaha).

The Aussie heroes will be facing off against international stars Gavin Faith from the USA and Venezuela’s Anthony Rodriguez, both of whom are top 10 runners in American Supercross competition.

Of course Faith is well known to local race fans, being a two-time Australian SX2 Supercross Champion following successful racing tours down under over the past four years. Both Faith and Rodriguez will line up for the Penrite Honda Racing team and will contest the SX1 championship on Honda CRF450Rs.

A huge USA-style supercross track will be specially constructed for the championship kick-off, with hundreds of tonnes of topsoil to be trucked into Bathurst Showgrounds and then carefully molded into the spectacular race circuit.

Freestyle MX displays and monster truck mayhem will explode into action around the arena through the night, delivering a non-stop program of high-octane excitement.

Tickets to the 10 October Australian Supercross Championship opening round at Bathurst are on-sale now and selling fast. For more ticket info, go to www.ticketebo.com.au/supercrossbathurst.
