Yamaha Australia supported riders have wrapped up a hugely successful 2015 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) campaign after the final day of competition was completed at Slovakia overnight.

After six days of intense competition, the Yamaha Australia results sheet boasts, the Women’s World Champion in Tayla Jones, second place Outright and in E2 for Daniel Milner, second place in Women’s with Jemma Wilson, fifth in E1 for Josh Green, Ninth in E2 with Beau Ralston and second in the Manufacturers championship- not to mention the hand these riders had in other team pursuits with the Australian World trophy team taking a provisional second and the now three time winning Women’s team of Jones, Wilson and Gardiner.

Tayla Jones continued her relentless march to the victory podium on the final day taking the final motocross special test and stretching her lead out to an astonishing 12 minutes. Jones was a class above her competitors winning every day and all but two special tests throughout the event and clearly stamped her name at the top of Women’s off road racing.

“My goal coming into the event was to win, but never did I think I would go as well as I did and win as many special tests as I did. It has been an amazing event and aside from a couple of small crashes, everything went perfect.

“I can’t thank everyone involved in assisting us to compete at this event and the support crew we have here. Thank you to Yamaha Australia for their support and it’s been the best season of my career since I have switched to Yamaha and I love riding their bikes,” Jones ends.

Queensland based Jemma Wilson made it a 1-2 in the Women’s class both for Australia and for Yamaha. Wilson won two special tests along the journey and battled bravely to get her best result in a six day event.

“Congratulations to Tayla on her win. She is riding so well at the moment so I feel like it’s a bit of a win for me to finish second to her. It’s been a huge challenge to get here so thank you to everyone who supports the team and we have had a great time competing in such a prestigious event.”

Leading the men’s charge was US based, Daniel Milner who came within 45 seconds of winning the entire event after four hours of special test racing. Milner’s second place finish matched that of his 2013 effort and he continues to show the world what he is capable of. Competing on a Yamaha YZ450F, Milner was second in class and also second Outright in another head turning performance from the Victorian.

Milner was locked in a dog fight with US rider, Ryan Sipes, for the entire six days with next to nothing separating the pair. Milner won a day early in the piece and kept the pressure on Sipes right until the final test.

“It was a tight struggle with Ryan and myself and I kept pressure on him hoping for a mistake but to his credit, he never faulted. I can’t be angry with second as this is a world championship event and after my season in the US riddled with injury, it’s nice to get back to some good form and get a good result.

“My YZ450F was faultless all week and apart from swapping a set of bars, we barely touched it after it came out of the crate. Thank you to Yamaha and the supporters of the Australian ISDE team as it has been another good event and one that the riders will remember for some time.”

Josh Green also rode strongly for a fifth place finish in the E1 class on board his Yamaha WR250F. Green proved a very consistent performer over the six days of racing and was always in the thick of the action with only three minutes separating the top five riders in the E1 class.

Beau Ralston notched a top 10 finish as he rounded out the event in ninth place on his Yamaha YZ450F in the E1 class. Ralston, still inexperienced with racing at an ISDE level acquitted himself well and fought of the pain of fall earlier in the week to soldier on to a top 10 finish.

“Congratulations to all the Yamaha Australia riders the ISDE,” states Yamaha Motorsport Manager, Ray Howard. “Again they have shown what world class competitors we have here in Australia and some good old Aussie fighting spirit.

“Individually they have all done exceptionally well and then in the teams’ event with the Women winning and the Yamaha Australia team just missing the Manufacturers championship by one second is a great advertisement for the Yamaha product.

“We had riders on the full range of our off road bikes over the course of the week, with the YZ, WR and the FX range all in action and the results we have achieved have been very satisfying,” Howard ends.
