Another MX Nationals race win for Kawasaki's Katsuya at Echo Valley

Sony Action Cam Kawasaki Racing Team continues MX2 form.

Kawasaki Motors Australia press release:

Takeshi Katsuya of the Sony Action Cam Kawasaki Racing Team is one step closer to claiming the series title after his race win and 2nd place overall at round 9 of the MX Nationals.

Takeshi transformed a tough start into a magnificent race win in the first MX2 moto as he tore his way through the leading riders to finish in front by 2.4 seconds. Steady riding in the second moto saw Takeshi cross the line in 3rd place at the Toowoomba circuit. A countback would favour Jay Wilson as the round winner, pushing Takeshi into 2nd place overall.

“I feel pretty good. Got another moto win which was really good. Toowoomba is my style of track so I enjoyed it today. I struggled a little in the second moto but overall it’s pretty good!” Takeshi commented. Takeshi is still in the running to take out the championship with the points on offer in the final round.

Proformance Kawasaki Racing Team were a rider down over the weekend after Matt Ryan unfortunately injured his hand while training for the round. Alex Morris charged on in the first moto to finish in a respectable 12th place after coming out of the first turn at the bottom end of the field due to a collision with another rider. A mechanical concern prevented Alex from finishing the second MX2 moto.

“It was a fun weekend at an unreal track. Unfortunately Matt hurt his hand while training on the Thursday night before the round so he didn’t get to start the race on Sunday. He is still recovering and we are hoping that he can compete in the last round but it will all depend on his recovery. Alex had an average start in the first race but he came out pretty well to finish where he did so we are very proud of him,” commented Team Manager, Travis Whitten.

The final round of the 2015 MX Nationals will be held on 30th August at the Coolum Pines MX Race Track in QLD.
