The Yamaha Rising Star Rookies class roared back to life at Echo Valley yesterday with Hunter Lawrence (Yamaha Junior Racing) once again dominating his competitors and proving why he’s currently ranked third in the world.

When race one got underway it was the KTM of Cooper Posniak who took the holeshot, however Lawrence, who is yet to be beaten so far this year, made sure that anyone’s race lead was short-lived.

After only a handful of turns, Lawrence made his way to the front of the pack, where he would stay for the entire race. With Lawrence out in front, the battle for positions happened behind him.

At the conclusion of the moto, Lawrence crossed the line with close to a 50-second lead on second-placed Wade Kirkland, followed by Kawasaki’s Hugh McKay who collected third.

In moto two, the Lawrence domination continued. After getting to an early race lead, Lawrence once again stretched out an impressive gap on his Yamaha Rising Star Rookies competitors. With Lawrence checked out, McKay and Yamaha mounted Michael Driscoll commenced their battle for second.

When the chequered flag flew, it was Lawrence who once again took the race win, while Driscoll secured second place just ahead of McKay, who crossed the line in third.

At the conclusion of racing, the Yamaha Rising Star Rookies round three overall was owned by Yamaha backed Lawrence, while Driscoll finished the round in second and McKay in third overall on a countback at Echo Valley.

Lawrence will now carry a 32-point lead on his competitors as the Yamaha Rising Star Rookies head to Coolum for it’s final outing.
