Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM’s Shaun Simpson took a dominant double victory on Sunday at Lommel, Belgium, for the 14th round of the 2015 MXGP World Championship.

After qualifying on pole, Simpson stunned with both moto victories, leading home Gautier Paulin (Team HRC Honda) and world championship leader Romain Febvre (Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube) both times.

Team HRC’s Evgeny Bobryshev had a tough day fighting the track, but still finished both races inside the top five for fourth overall, while Kevin Strijbos (Rockstar Energy Suzuki) and Jeremy Van Horebeek (Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube) tied on points for fifth.

Australia’s Todd Waters (Red Bull IceOne Racing Husqvarna) was a solid seventh with 8-6 finishes, while countryman Dean Ferris (Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing) went 15-8 for 11th overall.

In MX2 Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Max Anstie made it look a lot easier than it was with a double moto victory, on a weekend where Pauls Jonass (Red Bull KTM) took over the points lead from injured teammate Jeffrey Herlings.

Jonass scored a pair of seconds for the runner-up on the podium, while Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Petar Petrov had a consistent weekend for third overall in his first-career podium.

In terms of the title contenders, Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser finished sixth, while Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube’s Valentin Guillod lost a bunch of points when he crashed out of moto two, resulting in 19th overall.
