Second Elite Performance Academy camp venues announced

Gold Coast venues make up September event.

Motorcycling Australia press release:

Motorcycling Australia’s Elite Performance Academy (EPA) members will have access to the best facilities on offer when the final camp of the 2015 program takes place on the Gold Coast in September.

The camp, which will feature eight riders selected from the initial EPA camp in June, will focus heavily on on-bike skill assessment and development.

The EPA program will employ assessment and development techniques not before used in Australia. To accommodate the requirements of the program, specific riding facilities have been targeted. The following facilities have been unveiled for the second EPA camp:

– Hatchers Raceway, Arundel
– Performance Driving Centre, Norwell
– Gold Coast Motorsport Training Centre, Pimpama

EPA Exercise Physiologist Tim Cole said securing the support of the three venues was in line with Motorcycling Australia’s commitment to delivering a program that develops and prepares athletes for the transition into top level, international competitions.

“We’re extremely pleased that these three venues have come on-board to facilitate the running of the second EPA camp in September,” Cole said.

“The advantage of basing the EPA program on the Gold Coast is that we are able to access a number of high-quality local motorsport resources, along with the AIS High Performance Centre at Pizzey Park that we used at the first camp in June.

“(EPA Coaches) Stephen Gall and Wayne Maxwell have already spent a considerable amount of time at these facilities and have developed a truly elite skill assessment matrix and development curriculum. Their ability to introduce our athletes to these assessment and development techniques will really elevate the EPA to another level.

“These venues help ensure the quality of the program by enabling the coaching staff to deliver a diverse and challenging program to the riders.”

The next EPA camp will take place from September 5-7.
