Dunlop backed MX Nationals athletes once again showcased top results at round seven of the series in country victoria in Shepparton on the weekend, gracing the podium in all championship classes.

Despite Shepparton kick starting racing in minus four conditions, Dunlop tyres took to conditions and contributed to extending championship leads, race wins, and podium positions.

In the Monster Energy MX1 Class, CDR Yamaha’s Kade Mosig took his second overall win of the season on Dunlop tyres. After taking the opening race win, Mosig raced to third in race two, landing him on the top step of the podium at the conclusion of the round.

Kade Mosig:

“The track started off with a wettish clay surface with a hard base, then as the day wore on the track became dry and technical consisting of many ruts,” he said.

“I managed the holeshot in both races and the Dunlop tyres just performed brilliantly for me all day“

KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs further increased his MX1 Championship lead in Shepparton, despite riding with a fractured shoulder blade – showing the confidence Gibbs has in his equipment. After taking third in moto one, and fourth in moto two, Gibbs concluding the round in third overall.

Fellow teammate Luke Styke also recorded positive results at round seven, taking second in race one before claiming sixth in race two and finishing the round one position shy of the podium in fourth overall.

In the Motul MX2 Class Dunlop’s Caleb Ward once again took round honors for the fourth consecutive time since returning from injury. Ward raced to second in moto one, and third in moto two handing him the round win on Dunlop Tyres in Shepparton.

Kawasaki Australia’s Takeshi Katsuya also experienced success at round seven, breaking through for his first MX Nationals moto win in race one, before collecting fifth in race two, concluding the round in second overall.

In the Pirelli MXD class GYTR Yamaha’s Wilson Todd maintained his championship lead, despite tough conditions in Shepparton. After being handed an in-race penalty in moto one, Todd took fifth before securing second in moto two, handing him third overall for the round behind teammate Mitchell Evans who claimed second on the podium, in only his second appearance since returning from injury.

Wilson Todd:

“It was a challenging track at Shepparton with long, deep ruts and a concrete start so you need a really versatile tyre that works on a lot of different surfaces, so I went for the MX32 front and rear,” he said.

“I had a bit of an up and down day but was able to maintain the points lead and with three rounds to go, I have to keep working hard and posting good results at every round.”

Dunlop’s National Motorcycle Manager Sabastian Mincone spoke of the athlete’s success after the event.

“Fantastic results again for riders using Dunlop tyres. My congratulations to Kade for another overall Dunlop podium win for the weekend,” he said.

“Dunlop riders have consolidated their places in the championship with the first three overall points scorers now using our tyres.

“Also congratulations to Kirk for his third overall place, his results were excellent considering his injury.

“Congratulations also to Caleb for winning his fourth consecutive MX2 round and also to Takeshi for another successful weekend which included a moto win.”
