Rykers perfect in Shepparton MXD clean-sweep

Todd increases championship lead with another podium.

KTM privateer Jayden Rykers raced to the MXD round win in Sunday’s seventh round of the MX Nationals, taking home a clean-sweep of proceedings.

In the opening MXD moto of the weekend it was Rykers who was able to convert pole position to the race victory, fending off Mitch Evans in another strong showing, as Connor Tierney and Bailey Coxon crossed the finish in positions three and four.

Fifth was current red plate holder Wilson Todd to maintain his advantage in the standings, while the top 10 was rounded out by Toby Stevens, Lochie Latimer, Jordan Hill, Kaleb Barham and Lachlan Davis.

After a breakthrough win earlier in the day, Rykers made it back-to-back moto victories in a perfect performance at Shepparton for the overall.

Rykers was able to overcome championship leader Todd in the second moto for his second win of the day, while Evans was once again consistent to complete the podium placings.

Fourth was Tierney and fifth an improved showing from Davis, with the top 10 featuring Zak Small, Blake Parker, Jesse Madden, Coxon and Jonte Reynders.

For the round it was Rykers on top over Evans in his second-straight podium upon return from injury and Todd, who now has a 10-point lead in the standings.
