CDR Yamaha’s Kade Mosig claimed his second MX Nationals MX1 round win of the season today at Shepparton, in a retro round producing some of the most intense competition of the year.

Mosig came out on top in an entertaining opening MX1 moto of the round, winning ahead of Luke Styke and his KTM teammate Kirk Gibbs in a special white/blue retro livery for this weekend.

Lawson Bopping was fourth after battling for the lead during the moto and Jesse Dobson in fifth. Sixth was Adam Monea, followed by lone Penrite Honda Cody Cooper, Dylan Long, early leader Dan Reardon and Kale Makeham rounding out the top 10.

Moto two of the premier MX1 ranks was another drawn-out battle for supremacy, as NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Monea fought hard to take victory despite a small fall, leading home CDR Yamaha duo Reardon and initial race leader Mosig, who claimed the overall round win as a result.

Behind them, series leader Gibbs worked his way to fourth from the mid-pack in another strong performance, then Dobson was fourth and positions 6-10 were filled by Styke, Long, Bopping, Cooper and the returning Ross Beaton.

Mosig comfortably claimed the overall by five points from Monea and Gibbs, who extended his championship advantage in third overall on Sunday.

The day was marred by a dramatic incident involving Team Motul Suzuki’s reigning MX1 champion Matt Moss, who after qualifying on provisional pole position struck track maintenance machinery during the Super Pole proceedings.
