Honda continues to top Australian dirt bike sales

Sales in the Australian dirt bike market appeared to have slowed in figures released by the Federal Chambers of Automotive Industries (FCAI) during the first half of 2015.
In comparison with last year, the off-road motorcycle market declined 5.8 percent, with 16,056 dirt bikes sold between January and June 2015.
“Honda led the volume race in the off-road motorcycle market, selling 28.9 percent of the 16,056 off-road motorcycles sold,” explained FCAI chief executive Tony Weber. “Honda was followed by Yamaha with 28 percent, KTM with 14.6 percent, Suzuki with 13.3 and Kawasaki with 10.2 percent.
Overall 51,578 new motorcycles, ATVs and scooters were sold between January and June 2015, which is 1.3 percent less than the same period last year. Off-road motorcycles account for 31.2 percent of the market.
“Honda was the leading volume manufacturer once again, with 24.6 percent of the market,” Weber added. “Honda was followed by Yamaha with 18.6 percent, Kawasaki with 9.9 percent, Suzuki with 9.4 percent and Harley-Davidson with 8.9 percent.”
Top-selling off-road motorcycle overall was the Honda CRF50F fun bike, while the leading motocross model was Honda’s flagship CRF450R. Meanwhile, the Yamaha WR450F remains the highest selling enduro model sold.
