Penrite Honda not content with results at round six

Dale and Cooper battle for position in MX Nationals campaign.

Penrite Honda Racing press release:

While both Cody Cooper and Ford Dale showed progress at the sixth round of the MX Nationals at Raymond Terrace yesterday, the Penrite Honda Racing team have come away disappointed with their results. Both riders recorded top ten finishes, with Cooper finishing eighth and Dale tenth overall for the round. Cooper finished the two MX1 moto’s eighth and sixth and now sits ninth in the MX1 championship standings.

“My intensity wasn’t there in the opening laps of both moto’s and that cost me dearly,” Cooper said. “My times towards the end of race were on pace which has made it twice as hard to accept.
“Overall I have improved my fitness during the break but my speed and intensity still needs work,” Cooper continued.

Teammate Ford Dale improved from the previous rounds claiming seventh in Moto 1, however a crash in Moto 2 left him to comeback from the rear of the field. “I am really disappointed in myself,” Dale said. “Finishing seventh is a vast improvement on the previous rounds but it is still far from good enough and the crash in the second race was my fault entirely.

Despite the disappointing results, Team Principal Yarrive Konsky remains positive. “Poor results reflect on the overall teams performance,” Konsky explained. “I understand that, however I have reminded our riders, team personal and sponsors that we have won a race, qualified first and proven that our motorcycles are competitive. “We definitely made up some ground this weekend, it was just not quite enough. We will regroup and make a plan for the next round in two weeks.”

The next event for the Penrite Honda Racing Team is Round 7 of the MX Nationals in Shepparton on Sunday 19 July. For more information visit www.mx.nationals.com.au.
