Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube’s Romain Febvre claimed an emphatic double overall victory at the Swedish round of the 2015 MXGP World Championship, his fourth round win of the season.

While Febvre extended his advantage at the top of the title standings, winning ahead of teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek and Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Kevin Strijbos, it was a memorable weekend for the Australian contingent.

Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Dean Ferris secured a season-best fourth overall via 6-4 results on board the FC 350, signifying his step up during the second half of the season so far.

“It’s hard to fault this weekend,” Ferris commented. “Getting my best overall result of the season here in Uddevalla for Husqvarna is brilliant. I would love to have got onto the podium, that’s my goal every time I race, but to end this MXGP just two points shy of it is very pleasing.

“I feel like I’ve got my starts dialled in now – I was top three both races – and that was a massive help on a tricky track like this. I rode great in race two and had a long battle with Antonio Cairoli while holding off pressure from behind. So overall it’s been good and I’m already keen to get to Latvia for next weekend.”

Countryman Todd Waters (Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing) also continued his stunning run of form, finishing a point behind Ferris in fifth overall after carding 4-7 results at Uddevalla.

“I definitely feel like the confidence is building every time I’m out on track,” Waters said. “The team has been working hard and with a few things we’ve changed and stepped up in training the results are coming more consistently.

“Race one was real good. My start wasn’t perfect but I was picking good lines and riding a smart race to work my way forward. Coming from about seventh or eighth to fourth on a difficult track like this was good.

“I wanted the same in race two but the watering of the track made it like an ice rink in places and the early laps were a bit sketchy. Once things settled down I wasn’t able to gain any ground and had to settle for seventh. But top five overall is a good positive to bring into Latvia.”

Reigning world champion Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) continues to struggle with his serious arm injury, however third position in moto two placed him seventh overall.

Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser won his third-consecutive MX2 overall with 2-1 results, with opening moto victor Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) denied the overall with a first-turn incident and DNF in moto two. Regardless, he’s still a mammoth 78 points ahead in the standings.

Second overall was Valentin Guillod (Yamaha Standing Construct Yamalube) and completing the podium overall in third was Jeremy Seewer (Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe).
