KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs has extended his lead in the 2015 MX1 MX Nationals championship after winning round six at Raymond Terrace on Sunday.

Matt Moss was able to convert his pole position into the opening moto victory this morning at MX Central, making his way past Gibbs in the early laps and establishing an unchallenged lead on his way to victory.

The first part of the race was battled by Moss, Gibbs and Dan Reardon, who went down mid-moto and out of contention for the top placings.

Moss controlled the race at the front to win by over three seconds from Gibbs, while Luke Styke put his KTM on the podium once again after getting the better of Kade Mosig for third.

In his first appearance at Kawasaki Dylan Long held off teammate Adam Monea for fifth place, while Ford Dale, Cody Cooper, Reardon and Kale Makeham eventually filled the top 10 positions.

In 11th was Jesse Dobson, while Ross Beaton made a promising return in 12th. Crossing the finish in 17th was Lawson Bopping, remounting after a heavy crash in the early stages.

It was an entertaining five-way fight for the lead almost the entire way through the second MX1 moto of the weekend, eventually topped by Gibbs for the overall ahead of teammate Styke.

Third in the moto was Reardon after fending off Moss in the closing stages, however it was Moss who scored second on the podium overall today after a spirited finish to the final moto. Styke was third overall.

Fifth for the moto was an improved Adam Monea, the top five separated by around six seconds after more than 30 minutes of racing.

Sixth was Cody Cooper as he got the better of Dylan Long this time around, as Jesse Dobson, Lawson Bopping and Kade Mosig who recovered from a major crash in the mid-stages – filled the top 10.

Kale Makeham was 11th in the second moto, with Ford Dale 12th, while Dan McEntee had a strong run to 13th ahead of Ross Beaton. It was a disastrous day for Daniel McCoy, with differing mechanical gremlins forcing him out of each moto.

In the championship following the first six rounds, Gibbs now has a 60-point buffer over Styke, as Monea sits a further 17 behind.
