North Queenslander Todd Waters continues to make progress in the 2015 MXGP World Championship after battling to 11th overall at Matterley Basin, Great Britain, on Sunday.

The Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing rider was running fifth in the opening moto prior to a red flag stoppage, then finished ninth upon the restart. In moto two he was 16th, ending up just outside the top 10 overall.

“It was an up and down GP for me, but I definitely feel like I’m getting stronger,” Waters said. “I was gutted when the first moto was red flagged as I was fifth. In the restart I also felt pretty good and was holding my own. I made a small mistake towards the end of the moto, but ninth was okay.

“In the second moto things just didn’t go my way. I came together with Rattray pretty hard and was feeling a little fatigued. The result wasn’t anything to shout about, but generally I feel like I’m getting faster. I just need to start well and stay fast for a full moto.”

With those results, Waters retains ninth position in the world championship following the opening seven rounds of the season.
