Proformance Kawasaki’s Dylan Leary has announced he will step away from the sport, effective immediately, following four rounds of the 2015 MX Nationals.

Leary has experienced a mixed return since coming back from a long run of injuries, with a high of seventh overall at Broadford’s third round. He’s currently 12th in the MX2 series.

“I have turned away from Motocross at this point of my life,” Leary explained. “My head is not where it needs to be competing at a professional level. I’ve lived an awesome motocross life, I’ve achieved things I never thought I would have, but my heart and mind aren’t in it and I’m not having fun anymore.

“This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, stepping away from my childhood dream; a factory Kawasaki Lites ride. Who knows in years to come things may change, but at this point I’m ready to move on and live a more normal life.

“This has nothing to do with the results I’ve had this year. I’ve got a fifth in a moto, I’m proud of that considering how I’m feeling. I’m super-sorry for everyone who has believed in me, I can’t thank you all enough for everything you’ve done.”

The factory-supported Proformance Kawasaki will continue on with Alex Morris, while Matt Ryan is scheduled to make a return in the second half of the season.
