Super Pole and moto victory for Pirelli Scorpion MX at Murray Bridge

Pirelli riders feature across all classes in South Australia.

Pirelli Moto press release:

Pirelli backed riders have shown strong results and taken podium positions, race wins and fastest lap times at an action packed round 4 of the MX Nationals at Murray Bridge in South Australia last weekend.

The loamy red dirt once again proved to be a good platform for Pirelli athletes, in particular Adam Monea (NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki) who tackled the conditions on race day in spectacular fashion taking the fastest lap in Superpole and a Moto win in the MX1 class. Monea finished the round in 2nd place overall.

For this round Adam chose to use Scorpion MX 32 front in 90/100-21, while on the rear moved to the Scorpion MX32 120/80-19 size to impressive effect over the weekend’s results.

Adam Monea: “In the changing and breaking down conditions at Murray Bridge, it was very important to have a good all round tyre,” he said. “Pirelli without a doubt have the best and most versatile race tyre on the market with the Scorpion MX32. It helped with my race win and SuperPole win and I really can’t thank Pirelli enough for the ongoing support.”

In the MX2 Class, qualifying saw the top 4 riders all choose Pirelli Scorpion MX. Come race time South Australian local Luke Arbon (SD3 Husqvarna) relished in the Murray Bridge dirt, with the local Pirelli shod privateer finishing second in both motos to take second step on the podium in front of his home crowd. Again the Scorpion MX32 shone through, with Arbon choosing 80/100-21 and 110/85-19 combination.

Luke Arbon: “The softer conditions at Murray Bridge definitely made tyre choice very important,” he said. “The track had a lot of square edges as well as soft sections, but the Pirelli’s handled perfectly and made my job much easier. Tyres were a big factor on the weekend, so to be standing on the podium at the end of it with the support of Pirelli was a good feeling that’s for sure.”

Despite a tough round for Pirelli backed team Serco Yamaha, Luke Clout managed to hold onto the red plate and championship lead after finishing 10th and ninth across two motos following his fastest lap qualifying efforts, and now holds a 16 point lead on fellow Pirelli rider JCR Yamaha’s Jay Wilson who sits in second in championship standings after round four.

In the MXD class, second and third places on the podium were owned by Pirelli backed athletes at Murray Bridge – KTM mounted privateer Jayden Rykers taking second overall, while Jordan Hill (Yamaha) secured third place for the round ahead of Jesse Madden from the Raceline Pirelli Suzuki team.

Don Nicholas, Pirelli Moto Product Manager: “We are very pleased with the results for Adam and the NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki team this weekend,” he said. “The fastest in Superpole by almost 2 seconds and Adams race win show the race winning performance of the Scorpion MX32 – a tyre available to both Pro racers, Privateers and weekend riders alike. We look forward to Coolum and the rounds ahead, and congratulate everyone on their efforts at Murray Bridge.”
