Stronger, faster, higher. The endless desire to achieve greater and greater finishing positions is a condition Husqvarna Australia’s youthful factory-backed squad is well and truly afflicted with approaching Sunday’s round three of the MX Nationals at Victoria’s Broadford circuit.

Last time out at Appin, 18-year-old Jesse Dobson became the first Husqvarna pilot in MX Nationals history to qualify for Super Pole, and achieved his goal of a top-five round finish when he powered his Husqvarna FC 450 to 4-5 finishes.

Now the Queenslander hopes to improve upon his seventh place in the championship standings while fellow MX1 rider, Craig Anderson Racing’s Aaron Tanti is targeting Broadford to achieve the first top 10 finish of his rookie season.

In the hotly contested MX2 category another class rookie, Nathan Crawford, is intent both on backing up his podium finish from the last round, as well as establishing himself permanently as a class frontrunner.

Fellow Husqvarna FC 250 rider Luke Arbon has shaken off the cobwebs of an injury-affected off-season – and hopefully shaken off the wretched luck that dogged him at Appin – enough to reveal just why he’s national number three.

In the MXD category, yet another Husqvarna-mounted class rookie, Connor Tierney, is hoping for a repeat of his Appin podium aboard his Craig Anderson Racing TC 250.

Jesse Dobson – FC 450: “This will be my third year going to Broadford but this year I’ve heard they’re doing it a little bit differently with the track prep so hopefully it will form up nice and technical, but I definitely like it. I think if I can run inside that top five where I know I belong, eventually we will start chipping away at the championship. Maybe not so much at number one, but if we can just keep chipping away and moving up in the standings each round, I’ll be happy with that.
Then hopefully in the last half of the series we can kind of bring it home a little bit.”

Aaron Tanti – FC 350: “With the weather and flooding this week I couldn’t really get on the bike, and just had off-bike training. Last year Broadford wasn’t one of my favourite tracks – I went really bad there and had a DNF, so I’m definitely motivated for a better result this time round. I made progress at round two just getting used to these 30 minute motos and learning how fast you’ve got to be at the start of the race compared to the end of the race, stuff like that. I’ve got to improve my qualifying times, and I’m hoping to crack that top 10 this time around.”

Nathan Crawford – FC 250 “I’ve had a pretty good week leading up to this weekend, so hopefully Mother Nature plays its part and we have a pretty good weekend. Hopefully I can put the Husky back up on the podium again, that’s my goal. Finishing third last time was pretty good for my confidence, and I’ve been getting better starts so I’m pretty confident for this weekend. Naturally I want to win, that’s everyone’s goal. But first I just want to make sure I’m on the podium every weekend.”

Luke Arbon – FC 250 “The weather looks like it’s going to be a little wet so it’s looking to be a bit of a mudder, but I’m excited. I’ve had another two weeks on the bike, and I’m just ready to turn it around, go get the results that I know I can, and quit laying it on the ground so much! At Appin I felt a lot better on the bike but two first-lap crashes makes it hard when you are coming from last, and I also got a flat tyre in the last race! But that’s all behind us now so I’ll just think positive going into this round, and hopefully come out smiling.”
