GYTR Yamaha MXD class rookie Mitch Evans will return to racing this weekend at Broadford’s third round of the 2015 MX Nationals in Victoria.

Evans, 16, looked to be the class of the field at Horsham’s opening round by qualifying first and leading the opening moto on lap one, before crashing and suffering a fractured left wrist.

“I was pretty close to being able to ride at Appin, but we thought it was better to be safe than sorry so we gave it another two weeks,” Evans explained.

“The wrist feels pretty good now and it’s only been four weeks off the bike so I won’t have lost too much fitness. This weekend will just be about getting through safely and then it’s back into it at round four.”

Evans comes highly-credentialed into his debut season, signing with GYTR Yamaha alongside Wilson Todd after winning two classes in the 2014 Australian Junior Motocross Championships.
