Team Motul Suzuki’s reigning MX Nationals champion Matt Moss has been cleared of serious injury following his opening moto first-turn fall at Appin on Sunday, but will undergo further observations by specialists this week.

The RACESAFE Medical Team had Moss airlifted to hospital when he experienced tingling in his legs following the impact, which saw his body clipped and run over as the field worked their way past the incident.

Moss has since been released from hospital and is now due to see specialists this week, however he has conceded that his title defence is now officially over as medical officials suggest up to two months off the bike – sidelining him for the entire first half of the season.

“Moss was caught up in a first corner incident which really knocked him around,” team manager Jay Foreman explained. “He has some swelling still, but has been released and cleared of any serious injury, though he will have to see a couple of specialists later this week to asses the extent of any injuries that he may have sustained.”

It’s been an injury-riddled year for Moss, who suffered a shoulder injury while competing in the US during the pre-season and later suffered a thumb injury while training, before tweaking his neck in a heavy crash at Horsham’s opening MX Nationals round.
