Kawasaki’s reigning MX2 World Champion Jordi Tixier has been handed a one-month suspension and a €5000 ($7000 AUD) fine following a bizarre incident at the Thailand round of MXGP.

Tixier, Jeremy Seewer and Tim Gajser were taken to the medical centre, suffering from heat stroke and dehydration, declared unfit by the chief medical officer and the FIM medical director.

All three were forbidden to take part in the second race in accordance with the FIM Medical Code. However while receiving his treatment, Tixier physically attacked the medical experts, which has resulted in race direction’s penalties.

No appeal was lodged with the FIM stewards and the decision has now been made final.
