Reigning Australian Four-Day Enduro Champion Daniel Milner has exited the 2014 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) on day one after crushing his hand in a bizarre accident that has reduced Australia’s World Trophy Team to five riders.

The CDR Yamaha rider who is heading to the US for next season has been ruled out of contention, following just three stages of this year’s event when he crushed his right pinky finger between the handlebars and the treacherous rocky terrain in Argentina.

β€œIt’s only just started and it has ended for me already,” Milner commented on social media. β€œI went down hard on the third test and crushed my finger in between the bars and the rocks. Sorry to everyone that has supported me and hoping the Aussie boys can get it done with one less rider.”

It is a major upset for the Aussies who sit in third after the opening day of action, however it was a strong first day regardless with Toby Price leading the Enduro 3 ranks and world champion Matt Phillips second in his Enduro 2 debut.
