Experienced Australian Supercross Championship front-runner Daniel McCoy has completed a mid-season switch to a Yamaha YZ450F ahead of the Brisbane Entertainment Centre finale on 8 November.

McCoy, 30, finished runner-up in the 2012 series on board a CDR Yamaha YZ450F, before campaigning a factory KTM to fifth overall in last year’s standings.

The renowned supercross specialist was unable to secure a team ride for 2015 however, instead turning up for Bathurst’s opening two rounds as a privateer riding a borrowed Honda CRF450R to finish with 11-9 results.

McCoy was a notable absentee from the Phillip Island rounds after landing last-minute assistance to revert to Yamaha, remaining a privateer entry with new-found support from Sydney-based financial company, Beacon Group.

McCoy’s debut on the 2015 YZ450F will come at Brisbane minus any official Yamaha backing, bolstering the brand’s SX1 presence alongside DPH Motorsport Yamaha’s Kade Mosig while the factory CDR Yamaha squad elects to sit out the current supercross season.
