Australian Dean Ferris has secured a position on the 2015 MXGP World Championship grid, signing for the Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team in the premier class.

While the Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team is Husqvarna’s official MX2 team, it will also field Ferris in the MXGP ranks on board a FC 350 for his fulltime return to the world championship.

“We are working for good results like this year and together with Aleksandr Tonkov and Dean Ferris this is possible,” said team manager Jacky Martens.

“Dean was really interested to ride for our team so we discussed the situation with Husqvarna and soon after we were able to give him a ride for next year. In our structure he can fight for podium positions and this is also the goal we have with Dean for next year. We keep an option open to sign another top rider for the MX2 class for 2015.”

Ferris contested the back half of the 2014 MXGP season with the Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory Racing operation, however it’s expected that countryman Todd Waters will return to that team in 2015 alongside experienced German Max Nagl.
