Riders aged 12-16 yesterday took to Appin to begin their 2014 KTM Australian Junior Motocross (AJMX) Championship title hunt.

The opening practice sessions set the tone for the remainder of the championship with some big names posting impressive times under while battling the heat in NSW.

Mitch Evans, a member of the 2014 Australian Junior team earlier this year, posted the fastest time of the day in the practice sessions with a lightning fast 1m48.159 in the 125cc 15 years class.

He’ll look to carry his form in to today’s racing when heats continue plus the first and second finals for the Girls 250cc (150cc 2st) 13-U16 and 85cc (150cc 4st) 14-U16.

Full results from the practice and heats are available here.
