The stars of the Australian Supercross Championship are gearing up for rounds three and four of the series presented by Swann Insurance, as part of the 2014 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island on 17-19 October.

Defending champion Matt Moss will be joined by new Penrite Oil Honda Racing recruit and eight-time Australian champion Jay Marmont who recently sampled the Phillip Island Supercross circuit as part of ongoing track development.

With supercross viewing included in the cost of a general admission ticket, the action will kick off on Saturday morning before rounds three and four of the championship take place on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Following two successful years of hosting Supercross, Australian Grand Prix Corporation general manager of motorsport and entertainment Craig Fletcher believes the Australian Supercross Championship presented by Swann Insurance will only be bigger and better this October.

“The supercross action is something not only the fans at Phillip Island really embrace and enjoy, but also many of the big names in MotoGP, and we’ve had Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden and Jorge Lorenzo stop by for a look in previous years,” Fletcher said.

“In between MotoGP sessions on the tarmac, patrons will have the opportunity to see Australia’s best on the dirt and I’m sure the racing will be enthralling.”

For Marmont, the opportunity to join Penrite Oil Honda Racing for the 2014 season has him eager to secure a ninth Australian title.

“I can’t thank Honda enough for the opportunity to race supercross this year, without them I’d be on the sidelines,” Marmont said. “The bike feels incredible and my confidence is growing all the time. To win down at Phillip Island in front of all the MotoGP guys and a huge crowd would be incredible and it is really important for the championship.”

Upgrade to a three-day Supercross Grandstand tickets for just $80, or for $50, upgrade on either Saturday or Sunday and catch all the action trackside.
