The future of Jay Wilson could depend on that of current teammate and national MX2 champion Luke Clout after it was announced yesterday the Serco Yamaha team has signed Jed Beaton for 2015.

Wilson’s future has been cast into doubt with Beaton’s signing, as Clout looks increasingly certain to be defending his number one plate in MX2 for 2015. If he does, Wilson could be left in the cold entering the off-season.

“Jed’s obviously been put there and I’m not sure what Clout’s doing – I haven’t been told anything to be honest,” Wilson told MotoOnline.com.au.

“It’s the only factory team at the moment and it would be awesome to stay there. They have awesome bikes, it’s a great team and that’s where I want to be. But what will be, will be. If it doesn’t work out, I will have to find something else.

“I would love to stay with Yamaha, whether I’m with Serco or without Serco. My plan is to stay on a Yamaha, but at this stage it’s really too early for me to know what’s going on.”

Wilson finished fourth in his first full season of MX2 in the MX Nationals, finishing on the podium at Raymond Terrace and Gladstone amidst a string of top five finishes to end the season.
