Fan Guide: 2014 AORC Rds 9-10 Kyogle

All you need to know ahead of rounds nine and 10 of the season.

This weekend the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) rolls into Kyogle, NSW, this weekend, which will play host for rounds nine and 10 of this year’s championship.

This weekend will be the dress rehearsal for the final two rounds at Heathcote in September, which will see championship more than likely go down to the wire with CDR Yamaha’s Daniel Milner putting up a massive fight to KTM’s Toby Price.

With his two wins last time out, Milner is now sitting in fourth place in the championship, just one point ahead of his teammate Chris Hollis, who has been looking forward to this round for quite a while because of the track surface.

Price tops the Outright championship tally on 163 points, 11 clear of Husqvarna’s Glenn Kearney, who has been ever so consistent on the new generation Husqvarna.

Active8 Yamaha Yamalube pilot Josh Green is two points behind Kearney in the Outright challenge. Green is another one that will pounce if anything goes wrong. But once again it’s hard to look past Price and Milner who will more than likely be the pace-setters this weekend.

Daniel Sanders, 19, lies in seventh place and just two points of Kearney’s teammate, Lachlan Stanford and looks as if he will tie up the 19 and Under championship by sunset this Sunday. Sanders has been nothing of a breath of fresh air in this year’s championship, winning every race this far in his respected championship.

Another championship that will be well alive this weekend is the Women’s championship. While 21-year old Jess Gardiner (Balllards Motorex Off-Road Team) leads the championship with 194 points to Tayla Jones’ 178. Jones will have the confidence going into this round saying that her round eight victory has given her the boost that she needed.

After these two rounds there will only be 50 points up for grabs, so with Emelie Karlsson 38-points behind Gardiner, it will be a tall order for the Swede to mount any serious challenge for the title is she’s to make it two championships in a row.

Talking about winning championships, Trent Lean will more than likely tie up the Masters championship holding onto a 40-point lead over Ian Jenner with Geoff Ballard and Mike Shearer 49-points behind.

In the Juniors, Kawasaki’s Lyndon Snodgrass holds onto a slender two point’s advantage over Wil Ruprecht in the J4 division, so expect some battling going on there. In the J2 class, just four points is the different between Joshua Brierley and brother Mitchell with William Price in third, 56-points behind Joshua. Ben Kearns holds a very nice 49-points buffer in the J3 class over Deon Javni and will be looking to tie up that championship this weekend and put it beyond doubt.
