Wilson MX’s Jake Emanuelli broke his arm this week in a training accident that will see the Victorian star sit out the remainder of the 2014 motocross series.

“I was mountain bike training earlier this week with my teammate Luke, and I just fell awkwardly and broke my arm,” he said. “I’m gutted. It’s going to put me out for the rest of the motocross so I’m shattered.

“I kind of felt like I have struggled this year fitness wise, and this week I had finally felt where I should be, so to have this crash and now have to sit out really sucks. The doctors have told me six weeks, but fingers crossed I can just heal up and get back on the bike ASAP.”

Wilson MX team manager Neale Wilson also shared the team’s disappointment for Emanuelli, who he said has put in a huge amount of effort this year.

“We are gutted for him,” he said. “He always puts in 100 percent and to see him injured and unable to race is really heartbreaking for him. Hopefully now he can heal up quickly and we can see him back on the bike in no time.”

For teammate Luke Wilson, a result of 17th last round was a step in the right direction, and the 24-year-old Queensland local is excited being back in his home state this weekend.
