Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout will make his home Monster Energy MX Nationals debut at Appin on Sunday, a special occasions after disaster struck prior to the round last season.

The 19-year-old broke his femur just days out from the Appin event in 2013; a venue he’s well familiar with after logging countless track time at the practice circuit within the complex.

Now back and 100 percent healthy after sitting out much of his rookie campaign, Clout will enter Sunday as a sheer favourite for MX2 honours.

“Last year I broke my femur four days before my home round at Appin,” Clout commented. “I can’t wait for this weekend; I’m really excited because I have a lot of friends and family going.

“I’ve only raced on the track twice, but I know it pretty well and the track is awesome – I really like it.”

Clout’s weekend at Broadford was plagued by teething issues on the 2014 YZ250F, missing out on the opening moto win of the year after experiencing transmission trouble. He eventually secured fourth overall for the round.

“The first race at Broadford, I got the holeshot and checked out,” he reflected. “That’s really what I’m expecting from this weekend. I have the speed and fitness, plus the team has put everything into it and we have got the bike problem sorted. It’s up to me to do work now.”

Rookie Serco Yamaha teammate Jay Wilson will be determined to rebound come Sunday, ranked 17th in the standings after a disastrous Broadford round.
