CDR Yamaha’s Billy Mackenzie will aim to convert his speed into results this weekend when the Monster Energy MX Nationals continue at Appin in New South Wales on Sunday.

The Scotsman, who was runner-up in the New Zealand nationals earlier this year, was on pace at Broadford’s first round, however an inconsistent run of 4-12-4 finishes saw him credited fourth overall.

Mackenzie was blisteringly fast on his way to the Super Pole victory to open the year, before a number of minor incidents set him back during the trio of motos. Entering Appin he has a game plan of channeling his pace into a podium result.

“I was happy with my riding at the opening round,” Mackenzie commented. “I just need to turn that speed into results.

“The bike is awesome and it’s nice to be able to get some time at home and get into my usual routine as so far this year I have been bouncing between NZ and Australia.”

Teammate Jay Marmont is also determined to bounce back at Appin – his home round of the 10-event series – after a lowly ninth at Broadford.

“Broadford has always been a track that I have struggled with, even in my championship years,” Marmont said. “But with round two at Appin, I feel more confident heading into the round and I know there will be plenty of friends and family there to cheer me on.”

Last year at Appin, Mackenzie was sixth while Marmont aboard the Kawasaki was one position behind in seventh.
