Williams Event Management (WEM) and the MX Nationals will be hosting its National Promoters Conference this weekend at the Ramada Marcoola on the Sunshine Coast.

Representatives from over half the clubs that will be hosting a round of the 2014 championship will be in attendance, to ensure each round of the series is run as professionally as possible.

It is a wonderful initiative from WEM that was introduced several years back, in a bid to open discussion on the best way to prepare for and run a round of Australia’s biggest motorcycling championship.

Speaking ahead of the conference, WEM director Kevin Williams said it was a great way to allow clubs to liaise to find out what does or doesn’t work at other clubs around the country.

“This really is a wonderful opportunity that we started many years back, to sit down and discuss the opportunities and expectations that come with the responsibility of running a round of the MX Nationals,” he said.

“We all share our views, and usually clubs walk away with not only an understanding of the magnitude and prestige of the event, but also a few ideas that they may not already have thought of themselves.

“The clubs are the backbone of this sport and they all run differently – the best way to find out how they can improve is to listen to others who are in the same boat.

“It is great to meet up together but it is also a sign that the opening round is just around the corner and it is time for those of us behind the scenes to really ramp up the preparations.”

The countdown is on to round one of the MX Nationals to be held at Broadford on 30 March.
