Fan Guide: 2013 Australian Supercross Rds 1-2 Darwin

An in-depth guide to the Terex Australian Supercross Championship season opener at Hidden Valley.

The 2013 Milwaukee presents the Terex Australian Supercross Championships will open this weekend when Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway hosts the opening two rounds of competition in an epic double-header clash to kickstart the series.

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont returns to shoot for his third consecutive title, however he’ll have major competition in the form of newly crowned MX Nationals champion Matt Moss (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) and last year’s runner-up Dan McCoy (Motorex KTM).

Americans Josh Hill (InsureMyRide/Hart and Huntington/DPH Suzuki) and Weston Peick (Carlton Dry Honda) will make their much anticipated Australian Supercross debuts, while Kade Mosig (CDR Yamaha) and Kirk Gibbs (Motorex KTM) will enter Pro Open as class rookie contenders.

In the Pro Lites it’s American Gavin Faith (Carlton Dry Honda) who will defend his title, joined in the class by last year’s Under 19s champion Kale Makeham (Tune Tech Racing KTM) and new outdoor champion Luke Styke (Serco Yamaha) amongst a host of capable rising stars of the sport.

This weekend will see the introduction of Speed and Style at Australian Supercross, the round hosted alongside round six of the QBE Australian Superbike Championships in a mega weekend of motorcycle racing action.
