Catching Up: Brenden Harrison

Harrison confirms Choice Motorsports KTM deal for 2013 Supercross season.

Brenden Harrison is a fan favourite of Australian Motocross, a typically hard work who has endured some of the most heartbreaking injuries during his career.

But as ever, the talented Queenslander plans to rebound in the 2013 Australian Supercross Championship and has confirmed he’s inked a deal with Choice Motorsports KTM.

MotoOnline.com.au called Harrison today for the scoop on his new deal, with the surprise news that he’ll campaign a 250 SX. Welcome back, Harry!

First up mate, you’re back on the bike making your comeback of sorts, which is awesome to hear. Tell us about your deal for upcoming Supercross series.

Yeah, it’s really good. It feels like around 18 months since I sort of did anything half decent. It was halfway through Motocross last year when I ended up hurt again, so I just can’t wait and am stoked to be a part of Choice Motorsports KTM for Supercross.

How’s it been back on the bike? Where are you at as far as preparation goes?

Off the bike I’ve been training super, super hard and we’re just over four weeks out now, so I’m starting to feel really good on the bike. My preparation is better than I’ve ever had, I’m fitter and everything’s going really good so I just can’t wait.

You mentioned you’re on the Choice team, still with KTM, so have you opted for a 250F or 250 two-stroke at this point?

I just made the decision to switch to the 250 two-stroke actually. It suits my weight a lot better and they’re ridiculously fast. The bike’s much lighter than a 250F, so I made that decision and have been riding for the last couple of days and absolutely love it.

It will be easier for me cos I don’t have to strip so much weight, I’ll be really strong, so I’m excited to race the thing to be honest!

And what type of expectations are you carrying into the season?

Well, as always I want to win. I don’t think me being off should really change anything. I’ve trained really hard, given a lot of stuff up, and put everything into it. I’ve had a lot of time off, but I felt like I could have been on the bike again a while ago.

My preparation, like I said, I’m the fittest and strongest I’ve ever been. The only thing I think I’ll lack is race practice, but I believe I can win and I just want to race my dirt bike, do the best I can.
